In September 2019, the 4th Hungarian Days of Düsseldorf takes place in the capital of the most populous German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the framework of a 4-day holiday.
The Hungarian Days in Düsseldorf feature handcrafted specialities from the Special Hungarian Collection - including honeys, cheeses and sausages made from Mangalica (special Hungarian breed of pig). Furthermore, children's dance house, fire jugglers and a series of concerts (including the duo of Veronika Harcsa and Bálint Gyémánt and the Naim Klezmer Band) are waiting for the visitors. The first concert after the opening is given by the world-famous singer Bea Palya, born in the city of Makó.
The "Hungarian village", which will be open until Sunday in the centre of the old market square (Marktplatz) in front of the town hall of the capital of province having more than 18 million inhabitants, is supposed to be a great chance to introduce.
Zsolt V. Németh, Ministerial Commissioner for the Supervision of Outstanding National Values at the Ministry of Agriculture, pointed out in his speech that this year Hungarians and Germans would be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Hungarian border in 1989, which paved the way for the restoration of German unity, and a special exhibition will commemorate it at the festival.
The open-air festival presenting the Hungarian culture from folk music to gastronomic specialities, is "getting better every year and is slowly becoming a tradition" in Düsseldorf, emphasized Mayor Freidrich G. Conzen, politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), at the opening ceremony.
