Even today, mummies are still being discovered on the different continents. This exhibition
presents human and animal mummies and artefacts provided by museums, universities,
scientific organisations, as well as private collections around the world.
The exhibition is the largest collection of mummies on the planet, where the public can encounter these unique relics of history.
The exhibition was put together by renowned scientists, archaeologists, doctors, and
anthropologists.
Visitors will get an insight into the world of ancient Egypt, the medieval civilisation of the
Incas, the life of the South American natural tribes, or even the European Middle Ages.
Some of the bodies were mummified for sacred purposes in a highly secret ritual, while
others were preserved in crypts or in the depths of marshes, in response to various natural
influences.
As part of the exhibition, Egyptian animal mummies and the mummified body of
the Egyptian priest, Nes-Hor, will be on display, along with exclusive contents that are still
kept in secret.
Thanks to new scientific methods, we can almost see inside of the bodies. They tell us howpeople lived at their time. We can learn their illnesses, their diet, the circumstances of their deaths and other personal tragedies. Many archaeological findings (artefacts, coffins, tools) are on display, but the mummies tell us even more about the people of the ancient time. How and in what way were bodies preserved or preserved naturally (marshes, bogs), how did they think about death?
Visitors also have the opportunity to explore the secrets of the past through interactive methods and can become researchers themselves.
